New Leadership Appointments at ICTE Press
The International Association of TESOL & Education (IATE) is proud to announce the appointment of a dynamic trio of academic leaders to guide the ICTE Press into its next phase of innovation and excellence. In a decisive vote, the Association has appointed:
- Professor Dr. Andrew Lian as Director
- Dr. Ania Lian as Vice Director
- Associate Professor Dr. Sandro R. Barros as Vice Director
Professor Dr. Andrew Lian – Director
Professor Dr. Andrew Lian brings a distinguished international career spanning several continents and decades of pioneering work in technology-enhanced language learning. Currently a Professor of Foreign Language Studies at the School of Foreign Languages at Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand, Dr. Lian is also a Professor Emeritus at the University of Canberra, Australia, and serves as the President of the AsiaCALL International Conference.
Since the late 1970s, Dr. Lian has been at the forefront of integrating modern technology into language education. His groundbreaking contributions include developing innovative, multimedia-rich methodologies and establishing self-organizing, learner-centered environments that have set new standards in the field. His illustrious career also features leadership roles at prestigious institutions such as Western Illinois University, Rice University, James Cook University, and Bond University. Dr. Ania Lian – Vice Director
Dr. Ania Lian, a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor) in Education (Teaching and Learning) at Charles Darwin University, Australia, is renowned for her commitment to advancing technology in second language learning and education. As the Vice-President for Research & Innovation and Chief Editor of the AsiaCALL Online Journal, Dr. Ania Lian has long been a catalyst for change, promoting inclusive and learner-centered pedagogies.
Her extensive experience, which includes work with the National Policy Office of the Council on the Ageing in Canberra and community sustainability projects with the Queanbeyan Business Council, underscores her multifaceted approach to educational innovation. Dr. Ania Lian has been a sought-after keynote speaker across Australia and Asia, fostering international collaborations and expanding the global impact of educational research.
Associate Professor Dr. Sandro R. Barros – Vice Director
Associate Professor Dr. Sandro R. Barros, from the Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education program at Michigan State University, USA, offers a rich background in the Humanities and Social Sciences. His research explores multilingual development, cultural dynamics, and language politics in K-16 education and beyond, making him an authority on issues critical to today’s diverse learning environments.
Dr. Barros is also a published author, with works such as Paulo Freire and Multilingual Education and The Dissidence of Reinaldo Arenas contributing valuable insights into the interplay between language, culture, and society. His scholarly contributions further reinforce the ICTE Press’s commitment to disseminating high-quality, research-driven content.
