In a decisive vote, the Association has appointed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Professor Dr. Andrew Lian<\/strong> as Director<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dr. Ania Lian<\/strong> as Vice Director<\/li>\n<li><strong>Associate Professor Dr. Sandro R. Barros<\/strong> as Vice Director<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Professor Dr. Andrew Lian \u2013 Director<\/h6>\n<p>Professor Dr. Andrew Lian brings a distinguished international career spanning several continents and decades of pioneering work in technology-enhanced language learning. Currently a Professor of Foreign Language Studies at the School of Foreign Languages at Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand, Dr. Lian is also a Professor Emeritus at the University of Canberra, Australia, and serves as the President of the AsiaCALL International Conference.<\/p>\n<p>Since the late 1970s, Dr. Lian has been at the forefront of integrating modern technology into language education. His groundbreaking contributions include developing innovative, multimedia-rich methodologies and establishing self-organizing, learner-centered environments that have set new standards in the field. His illustrious career also features leadership roles at prestigious institutions such as Western Illinois University, Rice University, James Cook University, and Bond University. As the Vice-President for Research &amp; Innovation and Chief Editor of the AsiaCALL Online Journal, Dr. Ania Lian has long been a catalyst for change, promoting inclusive and learner-centered pedagogies.<\/p>\n<p>Her extensive experience, which includes work with the National Policy Office of the Council on the Ageing in Canberra and community sustainability projects with the Queanbeyan Business Council, underscores her multifaceted approach to educational innovation. Dr. Ania Lian has been a sought-after keynote speaker across Australia and Asia, fostering international collaborations and expanding the global impact of educational research.<\/p>\n<h6>Associate Professor Dr. Sandro R. Barros \u2013 Vice Director<\/h6>\n<p>Associate Professor Dr. Sandro R. Barros, from the Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education program at Michigan State University, USA, offers a rich background in the Humanities and Social Sciences. His research explores multilingual development, cultural dynamics, and language politics in K-16 education and beyond, making him an authority on issues critical to today&#8217;s diverse learning environments.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Barros is also a published author, with works such as <em>Paulo Freire and Multilingual Education<\/em> and <em>The Dissidence of Reinaldo Arenas<\/em> contributing valuable insights into the interplay between language, culture, and society. He is one of the pioneers of technology-enhanced language learning in Australia. Prior to this appointment, he was a Professor and Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Western Illinois University in the United States. Prior to that, he had been a professor of Humanities and Director of the Center for the Study of Languages at Rice University, Houston, TX, USA, and Professor and Head of the School of Languages and International Education at the University of Canberra in Australia. He has held further Professorial appointments and has been Head of Department at two other universities in Australia (James Cook University and Bond University). His current research interests are in the area of self-adjusting and self-organizing (language\/culture-) learning environments based on rhizomatic approaches to (language\/culture-) learning and the generation of personal learning environments within a 21st-century perspective. Consequently, he is also interested in developing and using multimedia databases in (language\/culture)-teaching and learning. Since 1993, Ania has held positions at various universities in Australia, with her work focusing on the uses of technology in second language learning and in education in general, including software development. She has also worked at the National Policy Office of the Council on the Ageing in Canberra and has a history of working on a voluntary basis with the wider community on sustainability projects within the framework of the Queanbeyan Business Council, NSW. Ania has been a keynote speaker at a number of academic conferences both in Australia and in Asia, where she engages in building collaborative networks between CDU and other universities, with the aim of expanding the international focus of all involved. The leading objective of her teaching and research is to explore the concept of inclusive learning environments, with a specific focus on learner-centeredness.
